HAND LETTERING – INITIAL SKETCHES

[vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]I spent about an hour each day last week, working my way through two different lettering books – first, I started working with Mary Kate McDevitt’s fabulous Hand Lettering Ledger and Tony Seddon’s fun Draw Your Own Alphabets.

Both books offer lots of examples, tips and blank pages to practice, practice, practice. My initial attempts are mostly “copies” (as in, I tried to copy the lettering without tracing) and look pretty rough. But it definitely helped to start a daily practice of sketching letters every day, as far as getting me into a creative mode.

Below are a few of the sketches that I made, they’re the raw, first attempts of a novice who hasn’t drawn in a very, very long time – so go easy one me![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_gallery type=”flexslider_fade” interval=”3″ images=”442,443,448,446″ onclick=”link_image” custom_links_target=”_self” title=”INITIAL HAND LETTERING” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
